What is a Hoplink?
A hoplink is a special type of affiliate link that is specific to the affiliate network called Clickbank. The structure of a Clickbank hoplink is as follows:
http://AFFILIATE.VENDOR.hop.clickbank.net
Where
- AFFILIATE is the affiliate’s Clickbank nickname
- VENDOR is the product owner’s/creator’s Clickbank nickname
If someone clicks on that link and makes a purchase then AFFILIATE would earn an affiliate commission and VENDOR would earn money for the sale.
Note that you can use a more advanced form of the Hoplink to track the source of sales. The syntax is as follows
http://example.hop.clickbank.net/?tid=nameforsource
For example, suppose you were promoting a product via your blog and also via AdWords, you could use the following hoplinks
http://example.hop.clickbank.net/?tid=blog
http://example.hop.clickbank.net/?tid=adwords
In your Clickbank control panel you would then be able to see which method of promotion was generating the greatest revenue.
